Alberta’s rich poetic voice sounds off! On the heels of the momentous 2010 Dektet, the prominent Frontenac House returns to publishing their award-winning four-volume Quartet in 2011. CISWF is pleased to co-produce their electrifyingly bold launch. Guest Editor: Richard Harrison calls the 2011 Quartet “Words to Live Within” – “When I think of the four books together, about what brings them together other than that I have read them all many times and found more to love each one, I keep thinking that there is something tremendously life-affirming running through them all. Maybe I’m just an inveterate optimist, but against a background of the Holocaust, AIDS, and the daily natural and human suffering, these four books represent a kind of hope; that it’s always possible to be inspired enough to start over, to not give up. I know that all those phrases are cliché, or rather, perhaps too exploited to use directly. And we are talking about poetry which is writing that feels like something given to us rather than created for any other human purpose.”
