Vancouver’s Sean McGarragle has been involved at the ground level of the west coast poetry slam for years, and on this day he facilitated an enlightening discourse on what Spoken Word poetry was, is, and could grow into being. The history and mythology of the fast-rising genre of Spoken Word poetry was explored. This was a vital opening of dialogue for the Spoken Word community which allowed both emerging and senior artists alike to candidly voice their insights into the forming face of the genre and exchange input on its future.
